Idris Price could be likened to other memorable and lovable characters who take on the 'father' role, such as Steptoe, and Grandad and Uncle Albert from 'Only Fools and Horses'. His age works in his favour as his seemingly daft approach to life seems perfect humour.

 

Although he gets a hard time off his son, Gwynne, they have a strong relationship and neither would be without the other. Their relationship forms most of the jokes and the fact that Gwynne and Moira are trying to live with him at his old age makes a most humorous predicament. Not to mention the fact that he shares a bed with a young American.

 

Idris faught in the war and is only afraid of Vampires (Episode 4).

 

He killed his "formidable" wife Angharad with his works bus outside the Co-op whilst she was heavily under the influence of Tia Maria. To the day Idris swears blind it wasn't his fault but she walked out into the road, or maybe she crawled, he's not quite sure!

 

Has a pet ferret named Sylvester who he loves dearly!
