Mrs. Elsie Hepplewhite (Mam)

Margaret John

Elsie is fiercely protective as any tigress of her beloved son Richard - in other words, your typical Welsh Mam. Her husband was captured by Japan in World War II as a prisoner of war, where he died. So, she shares detriment for the Japanese with Richard, she because of her husband's death, him because of their technological advances. Her grandfather died after swallowing a silver threepence that was in his Christmas pudding, not before running down the road for one and a half miles (bearing in mind he was ninety-four!).

Elsie was a stripper before she retired and still holds a flame for a bit of dancing! And there's no doubt that she's head of the household, and can be relied upon to be on hand with tea and cakes when required. She also has a vast collection of pinnies.
