Boyd and Kirsten VIP Guests at Penrhiwceiber Film Festival 2011

Monday, March 14th, 2011

On Friday 4 March 2011, Boyd and Kirsten attended the very first Penrhiwceiber Film Festival. The festival was a massive success and drew not only large crowds but international media coverage. It was a true celebration of Welsh film history, showing such classics as Zulu, Twin Town and the beloved How Green Was My Valley. Twin Town of course, a classic in which Boyd acts.

Here are a few shots from the evening. If you’d like to catch some coverage of the event, X-Ray had a great story on it last week, it’s still available on iPlayer (but not for long!).

Boyd in CAMBRIA – The National Magazine of Wales

Great news as Boyd Clack dominates the May issue of CAMBRIA, “Wales’ Magazine”.

Boyd gets the front page treatment! They also take the opportunity to talk about his acting work and his return to the stage with NTW (National Theatre of Wales). They also take a closer look at his latest musical offering, the beloved “Welsh Bitter” which is also very interesting.

The issue reviews ‘A GOOD NIGHT OUT’ [A Good Night Out in the Valleys - National Theatre Wales March 2010], Boyd’s latest theatrical outing:

“a palpably honest leading actor”…”Boyd Clack probably had the most lines, and carried our emotions for the greater part of the performance,” …”his overwhelming success…”

Cambria – The National Magazine of Wales, May issue 2010 Vol 11 No 6

In the same issue, Boyd’s album Welsh Bitter also reviewed by Norma Lord:

‘Unclassifiably haunting songs, neither rock, nor protest-folk, nor yet really ballad, beautifully enunciated and musically sung in melting chocolate tones by this multifaceted yet mysterious artist.’… ‘Boyd Clack has made his name as a comedian and a comic writer; this disc is definitely the flip, but not the B side, which is particularly intriguing in the “never-had-it-so-good”, swinging sixties generation. Worth a whirl…’

So there you go, there’s a lot of interesting reading there, certainly a treat for Boyd Clack fans! Cambria’s May issue is definitely “worth a whirl”, particularly as there seems to be such a lot about Boyd with a number of photos to boot!

Boyd Clack's Welsh Bitter - Album Launch @ The GLOBE

Like H.G. Wells’ Eloi, they march blindly towards the stone temple which houses the human abattoir. They know though that no flesh eating monsters await them there they are going to see a trembling mayfly of a man. They are going to watch him dance on the meniscus of fear that has formed upon the surface of the stagnant lake. ‘The world is dead’ they will cry ‘and this is all that remains.’ They will descend like lemmings. It is a tower of entertainment. It is an atrocity exhibition. It is a tourist attraction for those who stare at disfigurement. It is for the twenty-six year old landscape gardeners and their abusive girlfriends. Come and join them in this time travel romance extravaganza. Bring your plastic ray guns. Bring your cowboy hats. Bring the emerald confetti. Bring the puppets. Kiss your loved ones goodbye.
You are invited.

Come with me and run with me. We will dance like lemmings to the sea. A chorus line of suicides, of those who failed and had to hide. We can compare our flashing lives and maybe little baby we can decide that we don’t know, we are not sure, no we don’t know what we came here for. I can see you down there lying at the bottom of the cliff, on the rocks. I can see your beautiful fur coats and your little faces and your little teeth and you turn to one another and you say ‘hey brother, hey sister what’s going to become of us!?’

P.S. Ignore all of the above.
